.....Hey, Aph, I just found some costumes someone had posted a loooooooong time ago that aren't on the front page. They're costumes for Judge and Brave (which needs a few adjustments), in the first post on page 18 (unless the posts per page gets changed from 25 to something else). It's the same person who made the Magic costume.

On a side note, I found that grid that I had asked about a little while ago in the same area as those costumes, and it was K-ey who had made it. So, I might actually be able to do something decent with a Wind costume.

EDIT: I decided to make a tag for the costumes and save you all some work. (I made some color modifications on Brave so it matched the processor units better, but since they were minor, I don't feel like it should be considered a new costume, so I'm calling it V2.)

I was going through the costumes I have downloaded to my PS3, and I noticed something vaguely amusing: There are currently costumes for all of Nepgear's Processor Sets except Trick, Earth, and Wind. (Well, the Brave costume does look a little weird, but the creator still put a lot of work into, so I'm not doing anything to it besides adjusting the colors to match the units better.) Even more amusing, after matching up costumes and units, I noticed that my Dark Knight costumes looked slightly cartoony compared to the units, and the Pirate units looked rather cartoony compared to K-ey's awesome Pirate costume. The effect was actually rather comical. One of these days, I might go back and fix some of the problems with my earlier costumes, since I have a better grasp of what I'm doing, but that'll have to wait.

I know a USB drive is the simplest, but I'm using a slim model and 1/2 of my USB ports are already dead and I use the other to back-up my files and don't want to plug stuff in/out of it excessively.

Anyone have other good methods to get these files on my PS3? Some sort of email program hidden in the XMB maybe that I don't know about? I don't have PS+ and I don't plan to get it so any ideas involving that will not work either.

Can you connect to the internet? If so, you can just come to this site and download them directly to your ps3. It is a bit more of a hassle/headache, but it can be done.

Thanks for the advice, it worked fine and I got to see them all last night in game.

I'm glad it worked for you. For some reason, whenever I try to do things online with my PS3, it usually takes forever. Which is why I stick with the USB drive method.

>.< Gah!
The fact that I am unable to take screenshots of the processor parts in the game and the sad lack of pictures of said processor parts is really starting to get to me. Having a picture makes it so much easier to make sure the costume's color matches with the parts and it's relatively easy to take a design from the parts - such as frost (h)'s snowflake ornament - and incorporate it into the costume. I have made due without them, but it gets kinda hard to get the colors to match by hand. It's easiest to have to side-by-side screens and just check back and forth between them, but sadly my two screens - my HDTV and my laptop - don't show colors quite the same. If I hook it up so I can view my laptop's screen on my TV, I have to flip the input source back and forth between HDMI 1 (my PS3) and HDMI 2 (my laptop), so I can't compare them side-by-side. It's so frustrating. :x
GAH! *start bashing head against wall*

Sorry about the rant. I just had to get that of my chest. As you can probably guess, progress on the costumes has been slow, I've been struggling a bit with the earth costume, since gimp makes it extremely hard to get a straight brown (the primary color of the earth processor units), and it's even harder to a white that has been tinged with brown (which is the secondary color). I have yet to start on the Wind processor unit, since that will be hell, due to the fact that I will basically be making that one from scratch. Some of the ideas I had for the 'lightning' costume that Aph suggested fell through so I need to think about that some more. See the reason for my head-bashing?

Have you tried just using a digital camera to take the photos? The colors will probably look way off, but there bound to be a couple of pixels you can sample (forgive me if you already know about this tool) to get the color you want easier, or at least closer than trying to mix it manually in the color mixer.
________________________________________________________________________________

Working on Purple Heart Suit HDNV version is kinda disappointing me at the moment (at the HDNV game that is). After closely studying the details on the original illustrations, I realized that the details didn't get closely replicated down to the tiniest detail over to the 3D model. I just don't get why they are not able to do it given their strict working environment and the high quality they are striving for. The details I am referring to are mainly the breasts area. Aside from not being able to grasp the size again (especially on Yellow Heart, the art direction they decided to go with to make gigantic breasts is just way too horrible), the details around the breasts area that's in the illustration are just not in the 3D model to emphasize on the fullness of Nepgear's breasts. *Sigh*

With that being said, my version of the Purple Heart Suit will be much more closely replicated from the illustrations than from the ingame screenshots.

@Luffione - Thanks for the kind feedback, glad you like Yoko's outfit and what I did with the banners.

I did not think of using a digital camera, and I am rather hesitant to do so, but I'll think about it. And the color picker is one of the reasons I wish I had a good pic of some of the processor units. It just makes life easier.

Yeah that's your only option really, unless you manage to get a hold of a video capturing hardware that allows you to snap the screen as it is.

Lol, yeah, that's what makes it kinda sad. Guess it's a little too much to hope for some one to feel charitable enough to provide one, but I figure something out.

Purple Heart Suit - HDNV version

Postby Ke-Y » Thu Jul 19, 2012 2:04 am

Here's the next costume. I present you:

Image

As I have ranted a couple of posts back regarding this suit in the HDNV game, you may notice that some areas are a little different from the ingame screenshots. This is because I replicated from the artworks instead of the ingame screenshots for the most part.

The things I didn't include are the wrist band things as they don't look so good without thickness. The patterns around where the N logos are on the gloves are excluded as well since they conflict with the N logos. Finally, the attachments around the ankle joint for the boots can't be included as they will deform when she bends her foot so details associate with them (namely the blue vertical glowing bars) are excluded as well since they look odd by themselves.

When I was working on this, I was studying the the new template for HDNV much more closely and I have to say, that template is actually a lot more user unfriendly compared to this current one, which doesn't make life any better. The new template only gives you an illusion that it is better.

Anyway, there is only 1 version for this suit as well. I tried making a sexy version using Nepgear's Lilac mk2 design as the base concept but it turned out really bad so I scrapped it. However, like all my other costumes, there's at least a NSFW version.

Sexy, I love it ~

And by studying the template, do you mean the screenshot that shows the template for Neptune in V? If so, then just from glancing at it I could have told anyone that.

I'm up for a challenge though, and I am sure we'll all get the hang of it not too long afterwards. Though... I'll mostly be texturing Noire, since... dat HDD.

Thanks, glad you like it. :D

Yeah, I was refering to the HDNV template. I just noticed a lot more stressful areas now compared to back then when I just looked at it without much thoughts. For instance, the N logo just right above the butt, have fun getting the base color to match the rest of the costume (of course it will be easy if you just use flat colors, but that's basically sacrificing detail shading on the butt area). Sure Nepgear has this problem as well, but it's on the gloves and the back of her boots which aren't the main body parts that people look at, but the logo on the butt is just right in your face and an area where people will definitely be looking at all the time when she transforms since the characters are always back facing us. The other one is the way they decide to cut the seams around the arms and the torso. It's a lot more troublesome than Nepgear's really. Ah well, we'll find out once we actually get our hands on these.

I actually like Noire a lot more myself, so I am definitely going to do some costumes for her. Also, who knows if all the rest of the goddesses share the same template or not until they reveal it or we see it for ourselves.

I won't worry about it until my Japanese copy arrives... or they put the templates on the site. Whichever happens first ~

It's likely since each character has their own model, and texture to go with it. That each template will be different. So without the candidates, that's five unique templates to cause us all sorts of headaches. Sounds fun, right? xD

If they do something crazy and add in the candidates to Costume Canvas, andthe possibility of a playable Yellow Heart.... that would put us at ten templates, loads of variety, but oh dear God, WHY!?
