A little concerned

Postby Tsukiko » Fri Aug 20, 2010 11:22 am

When are we gonna get some new news about replacement discs for Toradora? I'm getting a little scared that NISA is just gonna release the part 2 sets and wash their hands of anime. :\

There's already a replacement program in place where you just fill out a form if you want to and just fill out the information and you'll receive remastered discs for Toradora and/or Persona for free.

But as for any other anime properties well it does kind of depend on how well these series that they have out sell but will just do a better job.

So basically nothing to worry about.

http://nisamerica.com/anime/anime_replace.php Here's the form to fill out.

Well Toradora Vol 1 already sold out and had to be restocked, so I would say that's good news for NISA and their anime.

I want to know a bit more about when they think Vol. 2 will be released of both.

Yeah, I think I'll wait until mid September, and then begin looking for news on the remastered disks.

The best I can find out, without any direct answers from NISA, Toradoa! Vol. 1 is selling pretty nicely. At AFO (Anime Festival Orlando) 08/05/2010~08/08/2010...I saw at least 15 copies of NISA's official release for sale by different vendors, and I even talked to a few other con attendees who purchased it there. (I won't mention prices, but I'll say they were more expensive then what NISA sells them for.) The one comic shop I spoke to, said they sold several copies on Saturday alone.

I'm not sure how much profit NISA lost with these disc issues though....but, sub only...I'm sure they are still clearing a very nice profit of at least $20 per unit. My father who is in publishing did say the box/sleeve for Toradora! is an expensive choice. Med. to high quality. Unless they ordered a very large amount from a publisher, it could cost at least $15/unit for the packaging alone, not including the art books.

Either way...I'm sure the sales have clearly demonstrated there's enough of a demand for a dub release...provided NISA has the capital to go through with it. Just imagine those that only order complete sets. Once Vol. 2 releases...Vol. 1 orders will see another nice surge as well.

I just hope to hear some news or at least an update before Vol. 2 releases. If I hear nothing by then...I'll worry and contact them directly.

Labor costs aside, I'd wager it's no more than a couple of bucks at most per person. DVDs are dirt cheap, so it's really about the cost of printing the art on them and distributing them.

I have great news for those of you who are anxiously waiting for news regarding the replacement discs...

My set came in the mail today! Man I was so surprised when my bro told me that there was some mail for me. I didn't even get a confirmation email informing me that the discs have been shipped out, so I was caught totally off guard!

As for the supposed improved quality of the remastered discs, I've only watched through the first episode, and so far I haven't noticed any of that ghosting or anti-aliasing problems that were present in the original release. So far so good I guess.

A word of warning though, the discs came in a disc sleeve enclosed in a relatively small envelope. Fortunately, upon closer inspection, the discs were relatively unscathed and in very good condition. I know that I shouldn't be complaining since these replacement discs are free, but I'd rather that they have placed the discs in something a bit more sturdy... :?

So for those of you who have already sent in your information in the hopes of receiving the replacement discs but have yet to hear from NISA, fear not! They're probably already on their way. :D

I saw they were sending them out, but didn't realize people got them yet. You must live in cali. I just hope mine can make it all the way across country in those sleeves.

Got my replacement discs today. And even though the surface of both discs sustained damage from the way they were packaged/shipped, they play just fine. The remastered video quality is definitely noticeable, looks great. Thanks NISA.

I got mine yesterday for Persona. The packaging was a bit scary, but they look like they made it though. Haven't tested them yet.

Got my discs, but the paper envelope was only sealed with a piece of tape and the tape had been ripped in half either intentionally or during transit. Either way, the discs seem fine. Haven't had time to check them yet (I just happened to have time to go by my house yesterday, but I'm staying at my grandparents' nearby) so I dunno if they play well/better/whatever, but they don't appear to be damaged, so I expect good things.
