Why Gil? (Stupid question)

Well this is the first series I'm watching as a part of my resolve to watch everything nisa localizes because Toradora was amazing. I'm on episode 10. First off, the music is stellar! The first episodes were really really interesting, and I love the whole dark mysterious ambiance it has going for it. Well had because the past few episode weren't as intriguing, but still good,

I just have one quick question. Why does Gil have to unlock Alice's power? I clearly missed the explanation for it XD (unless it gets explained later, in which case don't tell me).

It does explain to you why when Oz first returns. Gil casted a spell so Alice can't use her full powers unless he unlocks it because when Alice uses them it uses up what time that Oz has left that is told my the clock tattoo on his chest. The more she uses her full power the faster the clock hand turns. Since Gil doesn't want that to happen he casted that spell so he can make sure that she only uses her full powers when it is most needed.

Hopefully my explanation makes sense. If not feel free to ask more questions and I can try to answer them.

I'm on episode13 now. I just love the music for this anime! It keeps the human-world bits fun, and makes the trippy bits all the more insane. Speaking of which

What's with that ending?

Literally nothing was answered It was like giving your kids a playhouse, but as soon as they figure out how to interpret the instructions for building it they never touch the thing again. Leaving you $100 in the hole for nothing. Oz found himself, but Oz isn't who I was interested in! What about Alice, Break, Vincent, and the Will of Abyss? They were all intriguing and had promising issues left unattended. The Will of Abyss was my main interest towards the end there (once she's found to be Alice's twin). I was expecting some crazy trip where Oz (and maybe the entire gang) is dragged to the lowest part of the abyss due to his clock, and they resolve what's going on with her and the tensions between her and Alice. Speaking of which, Oz's clock never timed out, nor was it stopped. Why have that entire plot point then? To tease the viewer!? Moreover, what happened 100 years ago? The ending wasn't horrible. I really liked the final smackdown, and Oz's acquired sense of self and dealing with things. I'm just livid because I was into this anime for the mystery, the unknown, the sense that something isn't quite right, and none of those mysteries were solved or answered! I mean wtf is this? I also was into the anime for it's lovable cast. Everyone had an intricate/mysterious backstory, but the ending just revolves around Oz. There isn't a bit of ending for anyone but him and a little bit for Alice (which is directly linked with Oz), but I digress. A great anime nonetheless, but there has to be some kind of sequel that ties up the loose ends to make it stellar.

I think they ended it just to end the anime series since I don't think there were enough volumes out yet to produce a second season. Hopefully now there are and a second season will be produced, but it may stray from the anime. Honestly, If you can get your hands on the manga, read it, SOO much more in depth and amazing story-wise. Truly keeps you wanting more each month!!
